Chandrika Tandon & the Young People’s Chorus of New York City at the Annual Chidren’s Hope India Gala

New York-based nonprofit, Children’s Hope India (CHI), successfully hosted its annual gala on Oct. 10, 2023, at Guastavino’s in New York City. The memorable event celebrated the accomplishments of leaders in education, philanthropy, and technology. Among those honored were Prashant Bhuyan, founder, CEO, and chairman of Accrete, businessman and philanthropist Nari Pohani, and Raj and Sujata Vanjani, CEO and COO of TPG Cultural Exchange.

Dr. Dina Pahlajani, co-founder and president of Children’s Hope India, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This year’s honorees were acknowledged for their relentless commitment to instigating change, and it was a joy to honor them.”

Alongside the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, Chandrika performed two songs from Ammu’s Treasures — “Que Sera Sera” and “Surangani”.

In addition to the celebratory elements, the gala also marked the progress of CHI’s “30/30 Education Initiative.” This initiative was initially launched the previous year with the ambitious goal of employing a Cradle to Career and Whole Child approach. This involves providing early education, tuition, and concept learning to prevent school dropouts, as well as career counseling to children at CHI centers.

Since its inception, the initiative has already been successfully rolled out in five centers. Dr. Pahlajani further noted, “We are proud to highlight the considerable progress we have made since launching our 30/30 Education Initiative and extend our heartfelt gratitude to our community for its unwavering support of our mission.”

With such impactful milestones achieved in a short span, the event was not just a celebration but also a testimony to the community’s collective efforts to lift Indian children out of poverty.
