Notes
A HUNDRED YEARS AGO, MAHATMA GANDHI LED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN THE SALT MARCH IN INDIA. IT WAS A "SATYAGRAHA" - A QUEST TO GIVE VOICE TO TRUTH - WITH LOVE.
THOUSANDS WALKED THE STREETS FOR TEN DAYS, SINGING VARIATIONS OF THIS REFRAIN, NOW ETCHED IN A NATION'S MEMORY.
RAGHUPATHI RAGHAVA RAJA RAM,
PATHITHA PAVANA SEETHA RAM,
SEETHA RAM JAYA SEETHA RAM
SABKO SANMATI DE BHAGVAN.
LORD OF INFINITE MERCY AND COMPASSION,
HELP US ALL FIND OUR GRACE AND WISDOM…
THE VILLAGERS WELCOMED THEM EVERYWHERE, WASHED AND SCATTERED FLOWERS ALONG THE PATH, AND JOINED THEM IN THE MARCH - A SOUL FORCE SO POWERFUL; VOICES SURGING IN SONG.
THIS STORY HAS BEEN REPLAYED IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE GLOBE, INSPIRING LEADERS BIG AND SMALL - MARTIN LUTHER KING JR, NELSON MANDELA, THE DALAI LAMA - AND GOES ON EVERY DAY.
SOUL MARCH IS A TRIBUTE TO ALL THESE JOURNEYS…

CREDITS
CHANDRIKA KRISHNAMURTHY-TANDON is a Grammy nominated singer whose album, Soul Call, has topped world music charts. She has trained with great masters in Indian and Western Music. In Soul March, Chandrika takes a simple melody beloved by millions and reimagines it in different global ragas and rhythms - Bossanova, Calypso, Baul, Spanish Rhumba...
She believes the song is one, the melodies many. She is a deep seeker of the truth and love.
Her music reflects that yearning.
TEJENDRA NARAYAN MAJUMDAR is a global Sarod maestro who has helped create the orchestral arrangements for Soul March. He and Chandrika have worked together on her two previous albums. Trained in classical Indian music with some of the greatest masters, Tejen performs and captivates audiences worldwide.
Over 50 musicians and acoustic instruments came together to record this album in the US and India, with the highest production standards. The instruments include the very old and the new, the eastern and western, all played by some of the best musicians on the planet.
