Summer for the City: An Unforgettable Night with YPC

An Unforgettable Night with YPC at Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City

On July 9th, nearly 1,200 people from New York City—including tourists from across the U.S and around the world—gathered at Damrosch Park for a spectacular evening of music with YPC, presented as part of Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City festival. Even summer rain couldn’t dampen the energy or the joy, as the crowd stayed, sang along, and was swept away by the extraordinary artistry of YPC.

Presented in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning artist Chandrika Tandon, the concert featured over 150 young choristers in a vibrant, genre-spanning program. From innovative global works to heartwarming medleys of beloved favorites like The Sound of Music and Broadway classics, the performance culminated in a show-stopping rendition of New York, New York and the world premiere of a new work by Chandrika Tandon, celebrating the unifying power of music and peace.

Audience members were dazzled not only by YPC’s signature sound and stage presence, but also by stunning visuals—including choreography by Jacquie Bird and a song from the opera Hansel and Gretel led by Maria Peña featuring puppetry—and a chance to join in on joyful sing-alongs led by YPC Founder and Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez and Creative Director Elizabeth Núñez. With several composers in attendance to witness their music brought to life, it was a night full of magic, meaning, and musical connection.

YPC’s inspiring performance—and all that it does to uplift the voices of over 2,000 young artists each year—is only possible because of you. Your generosity opens the door for our choristers to grow, lead, and sing out into the world in the key of love.
